2003: The Citizen Decree of Protection and Contributors of Arizona ( The Arizona
Taxpayer and Citizens Protection Act), better well-known like Proposal 200, was
designed by the coalition "It protects Now to Arizona" ( Protect Arizona Now , BREAD by
their abbreviations in English) and their patrocinadores include diverse local civil employees,
industralists, citizens and to the members of the Federation by the Migratory Reformation

initiative is necessary to avoid that the undocumented immigrants
can vote, although electoral officials have confirmed who
electoral fraud that involves undocumented immigrants is not
frequent. In the last years, very few people have been processed

26/oct/2004 Phoenix, Arizona. Lawyers Gullet and Davis, along with the Committee of
Not to Proposal 200 , they interpose a request to the Supreme Court of
County of Maricopa, in order to prevent that the count of votes begins

gobierno mexicano "lamenta la aprobación de la Propuesta 200 y expresa
su pleno rechazo a la misma, por constituir una medida que propicia
acciones de discriminación con base en un perfil étnico y limita el acceso
a servicios fundamentales en materia de educación y salud. Asimismo, el
Gobierno de México considera que dicha medida no contribuye de
manera alguna a enfrentar integralmente los retos del fenómeno
migratorio entre México y Arizona". En dicho comunicado se declara
también que "desde que fue incluida en la boleta electoral del Estado, la
SRE giró instrucciones a los consulados de la zona a efecto de: (a)
mantener debidamente informada a la comunidad mexicana, (b)
promover un mejor entendimiento sobre la aportación de los mexicanos a
la economía y sociedad del Estado y (c) mantener contacto con
autoridades estatales y locales, funcionarios electos opositores a la
Proposición y organizaciones sociales, a efecto de dar seguimiento, en
estricto apego al marco legal aplicable, al proceso mediante el cual las
instancias judiciales correspondientes revisarán la constitucionalidad de
la medida".

México, D.F. La presidenta de la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores de
América del Norte del Senado, Silvia Hernández, declaró que ese órgano
legislativo seguirá de cerca la aplicación de la Propuesta 200, recién
aprobada en Arizona. En entrevista, la legisladora del Partido
Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) apuntó que a la Cámara de Senadores
le preocupa que se haya aprobado esa propuesta que limita los servicios
de educación y de salud a los migrantes ilegales en Arizona. (El Diario

Según una encuesta de salida realizada el día de las elecciones por The
Associate Press, en conjunción con las cadenas televisivas Edison Media
Research y Mitofsky International, el nivel educativo y de ingreso fueron
variables que desempeñaron un papel crucial en la votación de la
Propuesta 200. De acuerdo con los resultados de esta encuesta, buena
parte de los electores que no se graduaron de la universidad y cuyas
familias tuvieron ingresos inferiores a los 50,000 dólares el año pasado
votaron a favor de la aprobación de dicha iniciativa.

Democrática (PRD) bloquearon durante una hora y media el tránsito
internacional en la aduana local de la frontera México-Arizona, en

de Diputados declara que enviará una carta a la gobernadora de Arizona,
Janet Napolitano, para solicitar que use su derecho de veto contra la
Propuesta 200.

La gobernadora de Arizona, Janet Napolitano, declara que expedirá una
proclama para aplicar la Propuesta 200, tan pronto como autoridades
electorales den a conocer los resultados oficiales, el próximo 22 de
noviembre.
